The 1st Aussie Label To Ever Show At Milan Fashion Week Fkn Killed The Game

Melbourne label STRATEAS.CARLUCCI has become the first Aussie brand to show on the official schedule at Milan Fashion Week

The collection, titled ‘SURVEIL’, took inspiration from the application of censorship in our modern world; a society that is constantly connected.

They showed new womenswear pieces on female models in their Spring/Summer menswear collection.
The designers, Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci, speak openly of their tendency to opt for a mixed-gender collection:
“We have always designed our collections as one concept, without it being gender specific.

It has always been part of the brand’s vision to see both the Men’s and Women’s collections co-exist as one, so it makes sense to show them on the runway together.

We explore these complexities through playful fabric innovations, restrained tailored forms versus exaggerated silhouettes, whilst maintaining the brand’s masculine-feminine aesthetic and combination of sportswear finishes and luxury tailoring.”
The collection shows extreme, exaggerated silhouettes, and tailoring that is engineered to scrunch, gather or sit in particular ways, so the “garments control the wearer”.
The duo have also injected more colour and lightened denim into this collection compared to previous ones, disengaging from their former aesthetic of ‘there’s no such thing as too much black’.
They received comparisons to Vetements, which Carlucci supposes to be ‘interesting’:

On one hand [it means the collection is] on trend but we have been creating looks like that from the beginning.

We have championed that mixing of sports wear and tailoring since day one.”
Carlucci said he hoped the brand would have a long presence in Milan, and that the pair hoped to show in Australia very soon.
