Taking Care of Business with We Are Handsome

Since dropping like an atomic bomb five years ago, We Are Handsome have been wowing us with their photorealistic swimwear and “why the hell do I have an office job?” campaign imagery. Adored by the likes of Bad Gal Riri, Diane Kruger and Queen Bey, their take on luxurious Lycra has pretty much reached world domination level. If you think world domination isn’t such a bad idea yourself, perhaps it’s time you signed up for our Pedestrian Coach session with label co-founder Jeremy Somers.

In the lead up to Monday’s session, we managed to steal him away from shooting babes in some ridiculously exotic location to talk philosophy, advice and the future of We Are Handsome.

What was the philosophy behind creating We Are Handsome?

To make something unique, fantastic and bold. Unsure if it would work, I still went ahead and did it, despite most friends and family laughing at me – it was quite a concept…

Right from the start you wanted to think big. Why was this so important to you?

Thinking big is a huge part of growing the business. Not succumbing to obvious rules and restrictions allows for faster and stronger growth, sales and recognition.

What’s the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given?
Keep your head up and smile, no matter what.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Pictures.

Do you currently have a style muse?

No, it’s usually a mix of many people and things at once.

Is there someone (artist/designer) you’d love to collaborate with?
An amazing street artist names Tristan Eaton.

Where do you see We Are Handsome heading in the next five years?
More into a lifestyle category and growing our swim and resort wear offering as much as possible.
