Women who wear size 14 clothes remind us that big is beautiful because size 14 is BIG. American Apparel is trying to empower women who belong in that gigantic, plus size consumer base with a new range of XL clothes. The company just launched a competition called The Next BIG Thing to find the face of the plus size campaign. The Next BIG Thing get it? Because plus size women are BIG THINGS?!
Next Media Animation, the Taiwanese news company known for turning global news into entertaining animated YouTube videos, have produced an animation illustrating the hypocrisy behind the “Next Big Thing” model search since previously American Apparel never carried XL clothing, and because… well, extra large (which typically equates to a size 14) isn’t so much ‘plus size’ as it is ‘average’.
