Style Rookie Tavi Lands First Styling Job

Tavi Gevinson is like no other teenage girl you’ll come across. The Style Rookie blogger, who is known for her eclectic, offbeat style and insightful fashion commentary, seems to channel herself well ahead of her years. The 14-year-old prodigy has become an influential and authoritative voice within the realm of fashion and style. And it’s even landed Gevinson her very first styling job with BlackBook Magazine.

Shot by Annelise Phillips and featuring 15-year-old model Christine Staub (Chloë Sevigny was first choice but opted out after scheduling conflicts); Gevinson has pieced together a series of the season’s most sought-after looks. Entitled, ‘Nobody’s Daughter’, the editorial spread features the likes of designers Rodarte and Prada, and it is quite evident she’s incorporated her own preference for experimenting with textures and patterns.

BlackBook editor Nick Haramis told readers: “They were unexpected and perhaps unlikely pairings, but they were also mature, intuitive and inspired. When we first commissioned Gevinson to style the story, we weren’t sure what to expect. That was part of the allure.”

‘Nobody’s Daughter’ will feature in the upcoming September issue of BlackBook Magazine. Do you think she’s got “it”?
