Something Else Teams Up With Ken Done

Sydney high street label Something Else has collaborated with iconic Australian artist Ken Done for their SS11/12 collection, ‘Submerged’. Beloved by tourists for his kitsch artworks and merchandise and responsible for Oh Mercy’s most recent album artwork, Done’s archives inject some print based Australiana into the label’s breezy spring/summer capsule collection.

Designer Natalie Wood worked with Something Else’s in-house artist, George Barnes, to digitally adapt a series of Done’s coral reef paintings circa 1978 – 1990. By adjusting the colour and contrast, as well as using repetition, the original imagery is appropriated to suit Something Else’s aesthetic i.e. surprisingly non-garish and on-trend. The collection includes high-waisted jeans, bodysuits, pantsuits, dresses, swimsuits and kimonos. SS11/12 also welcomes Something Else’s first foray into eyewear.
