Some Sicko Is Going Round Decapitating Platypuses In A NSW Botanic Garden

There’s a special place in the fiery depths of hell for people who torture or otherwise harm animals.
The latest incident making us sick to the stomach is the murder of three platypuses – our sweet, shy national icon – in NSW‘s Albury Botanic Gardens.
Three of the native mammals have been found dead in little more than a month, two of them decapitated with what authorities believe to be a knife.
Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service Murray River secretary Hazel Cook told The Border Mail the poor little guys had their heads cleanly cut off, which ruled out animal predators.
“There definitely was no fox involved,” she said. “You could see were it was cut, where the spine was cut.”
JFC.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has condemned the killings as a “despicable act of cruelty to one of Australia’s most loved animals”, and are currently investigating.
One thing’s clear: animal cruelty is a serious offence and the sicko perpetrating these attacks – when caught, which is inevitable – will face a fine of up to $11,000 and and / or six months in the slammer.
