Unless you’re were lucky enough to have been on the Venice Boardwalk, Big Sur, Tulsa, Oklahoma, or the edge of the goddamn Grand Canyon during brief, 24-hour windows over the past few weeks, you probably haven’t been able to get your grubby little mitts on Snapchat’s coolest new toy, “Spectacles”.
Heck, I didn’t even know there was a cool new toy. What am I doing with my life?
Anyway, Spectacles can basically do what Snapchat already does, record and share short videos, but out of pretty rad looking sunglasses instead of your broken smartphone.
Now, less than 24-hours after their last pop-up shop launched in the heart of New York City, demand for the goofy googles has officially broken through the damn roof.
While people across the States have been able to buy the glasses from randomly-placed yellow vending machines aka “Snapbots” (urgh) for $130 USD, glasses are being resold on eBay for hundreds more, with some bids already surpassing $500 USD.

And to be honest, these look like fun fkn toys. They don’t have the clunky, stupid look of Google Glasses, and taking quick videos sounds a lot less disorientating than adjusting to whatever terrifying thing Samsung is doing with their VR headset.
So when can you get your own pair without paying triple the amount? Search me, because this is all you get on the Spectacles’ “Find A Bot” webpage:
I have visited the “Find a Bot” page for Snap’s new spectacles, and all it ever says is this: pic.twitter.com/nB8ODqBlBi
