There’s shimmery products that are like, GOOD – and then there’s the ones that go the extra mile. As someone who is a) obsessed with highlighter and b) knows a lot of other people obsessed with glitter, AND C) has worked in the beauty media industry for around 10 years, I know some shit. And I’m here to share what I know with you. Here’s my pick of products that’ll have you glowing so bright, you’ll rival that guy who has stuck sequins all over his face.
This body luminizer is the SHIT. The shit, you guys. It is the perfect balance of hyper-glowy, but “natural” looking – not that anyone literally glows, but it blends into your skin like a dream and leaves you looking angelic, not glittery. It’s the perfect end-product no matter what vibe you’re going for. Sex in a bottle.
STILA SHIMMER & GLOW LIQUID EYESHADOW
This eyeshadow has rave reviews for it’s excellent pigment and high glitter factor. One sweep and a little smudging and you’ll have epic, theatrical eyelids.
MAC GRAND ILLUSION HOLOGRAPHIC LIQUID LIPCOLOUR
This lip colour is SUPER shimmery and highly pigmented – the lighter shades will stand out best on darker skin tones, but they still look glittery and fab on lighter skin too.
FENTY BEAUTY KILAWATT FREESTYLE HIGHLIGHTER
All the Fenty Kilawatt highlighters are gold (literally) for adding mega glow to cheekbones, collar bones – wherever. But this palette allows you to go wild with iridescent blues and purples – after all, why go for simple champagne glow on Mardi Gras, right?
MAC X PATRICK STARR PIGMENT IN SLEIGH RIDE
Mad colour payoff and a glittery finish, this works as costume makeup if you use a damp brush, and doubles as regular shimmer for daytime use without.
This is INTENSE shimmer – excellent if, say, you’re dressing up as an LGBT… alien? Moon prince? I don’t know, something intergalactic.
Pat’s the undisputed QUEEN of highlighting products, having gone viral back when she only produced for backstage on runway shows. Now her stuff is in Aussie Sephora, and this highlighting palette looks like the goods, IMO.
SPORTSGIRL GYPSY GLOW BODY ILLUMINISER
Sportsgirl is renowned for their body shimmer products – another goodie is the Body Glow bronzer. This luminizer gives a similar payoff to the Fenty Beauty – it’s a LITTLE less amazing, but also a fraction of the price and still top tier.
ECOSTARDUST BIODEGRADABLE GLITTER
The best glitter is biodegradable – something that’s only hit wider knowledge in recent years, glitter can be preeeetty bad for the environment, so if you want to do your eco bit, this one is biodegradable.
