Sass and Bide Concept Store

The sass & bide strand store concept was born of Sarah-Jane & Heidi’s desire to create a space for an exclusive selection of sass & bide pieces that represented their favourite styles for the season. Say Sarah-Jane Clarke (sass) & Heidi Middleton (bide): “the idea was to create a bespoke store that highlighted the most special sass & bide creations…. we’ve hand-picked our favourite pieces from the season and we will eventually have custom one-off pieces available exclusively at our strand boutique”. The hand-picked range is housed in a small, simplistic space designed by internationally renowned architect Kelvin Ho. “We wanted to create a clear focused space with no fixtures on the walls, so everything is centralised which in turn draws attention to the clothing and the centrepiece” he said. In keeping with Sarah-Jane & Heidi’s love of art, Sydney-based artist Adam Laerkensen has been commissioned to create a spectacular centrepiece for the store (the relationship between Adam Laerkensen and sass & bide was initiated as a result of the introduction of the artist by Art Month Sydney in 2010). The windswept plaster-wrapped tree, which took 6 weeks to create and an entire day to install, fills the entire ceiling space and creates a beautiful experience for visitors to the store.
