R.I.P. Fashion Luminary Anna Piaggi Dies at 81


Iconic style eccentric, fashion luminary and long-time writer for Vogue Italia Anna Piaggi has died at 81 years of age at her home in Milan.

Her entirely original eclectic style (flamboyant frocks, theatrical make up and HATS) became the subject of much celebration, with fashion heavyweights Vivienne Westwood, Manolo Blahnik, and Karl Lagerfeld citing Piaggi as one of fashion’s most important voices and aesthetic inspirations.

During her career, Piaggi also formed a close friendship with master milliner Stephen Jones, becoming the muse for his bespoke headwear and was rarely seen without one of his inventive creations adorning her blue wisps of hair.

Her always colourful presence will be greatly missed from Fashion Week front rows in the future. Let’s take a look at some of her most outrageous looks from recent years…
