Proven Gronk Mark Latham Lands USyd Talk And Students Have Some Srs Q’s

Mark Latham, a man whose public perception has taken a trajectory NASA would describe as catastrophic, has been invited to speak / gurgle at a University of Sydney Politics Society event. The reaction thus far is… Well, we could have seen this coming.

The former Labor leader, who has spent the past few years hanging shit on survivors of domestic violence and feminist students, among others, is scheduled to attend tomorrow’s subtly-titled Mark Latham, Please Explain! session.

Only a matter of hours after being announced, the event – which has been billed as an “interesting insight into an individual who confuses, inspires, and angers many” – has definitely confused and angered. We’ll let you decide if you call the reactions “inspired”:

FWIW, the Society has issued a post of its own to reassert its impartial nature. It also includes a reminder to everyone seriously worked up by Latham’s appearance that “we do not condone violence.”

That warning rests against a backdrop of similar campus events in the United States, where the planned appearance of right-wing commentator / hellish President Trump sycophant Ann Coulter at UC Berkeley is stoking demonstrations.
