Procrastinating Med Student Olivia Wells Enters Miss Universe Australia, Wins

University assignments, like beauty pageants, are a necessary evil: unpleasant at times, demanding of great skill, but ultimately rewarding and extremely beneficial to those whose thankless duty it is to heed their call and answer whatever inane questions are asked of them
Melbourne medical school student Olivia Wells entered this year’s Miss Universe Australia competition as a means of procrastinating from doing some godawful assignment and, oops, tee hee, she won.
Wells, 19, of Black Rock was last night crowned Australia’s representative to The Universe after beating out stiff competition from the likes and ‘dos of thirty finalists selected from around the nation who were judged on their ability to wear bikinis, gowns and answer questions with extraordinary grace and prowess.
“It was a stroke of luck I entered,” said the incumbent Miss Universe Australia. “[I] Just thought it’s better than doing an assignment,” Wells reportedly told the at-capacity Sofitel Melbourne ballroom brimming with 5’s who were likewise avoiding doing something less pleasant than looking at 10’s in bikini; because let’s face it, why else would anyone go to one of these things?
“I’d like to be a surgeon in developing nations. There’s always room for women’s health, paediatrics. I’ve been in medical school for ten weeks and I love it. I’ll defer for a year and then get back into it,” said the clearly very bright Ms. Wells, according to an image heavy report in today’s Herald Sun
Wells now moves on to compete against the best in the business at the international final of Donald Trump’s Miss Universe Universe in Moscow later this year.
No doubt wearing something hid-*snap*-e-*snap*-ous*snap*.
Congratulations Olivia.
