Precious Cockatoo Stripped Of Feathers In Cyclone Taken In By Photographer

Would a natural disaster really be a natural disaster if we didn’t get a photo of an adorable animal who had a rough time of things? Yes, absolutely it would, but we sure do get a lot of them.
The extremely cute dishevelled animal we received as a byproduct of Tropical Cyclone Debbie is a rather worse-for-wear looking cockatoo that I shall refer to as “Feathers McFuck” for the rest of the article.
Feathers McFuck was found in Airlie Beach by ‘Townsville Bulletin‘ photographer Alix Sweeney:
“The owner of the motel we’re staying in said there was a cockatoo at the end of the road. I spotted something white among all the greenery. You couldn’t miss it.”
Noticing that poor Feathers McFuck had had its feathers stripped off by the weather, Sweeney took it back to her motel room to look after it until wildlife carers could take over:
“I went back and got a towel from the hotel and picked it up. I’m trying to get a hold of wildlife carers in the area but the winds picked up again and I can’t get through to them. I doubt they could get here either. But at the moment, it’s safe from the cyclone.”
What a legend.
