After a decade of stocking the world’s most directional labels (Ann Demeulemeester, Bernhard Willhelm and Dries Van Noten, for example), Sydney boutique Poepke have unveiled their first in-house label in POE.
Much like the operation of their shop, POE is a labour of love. Designed and made locally, this daring basics collection revels in the details: concealed button fronts, hidden pockets, pleats, rope belts and coloured drawstrings. Fabrications of cotton, jersey, denim, seersucker and linen make for wearable wardrobe staples while a recurring 80s inspired ‘Tossed Matchsticks’ print (handprinted on select garments) gives you the option to jazz your shit up.
Contrast and spontaneity are two key qualities in the collection – see: Peter Pan collar shirtdress with bright blue necktie or chambray shirt tucked into chambray pants – so much so that every outfit looks like it belongs on a Helsinki street style blog and that’s just fine with us.
