Parlour X Team Up With Del Kathryn Barton

It’s been 10 years since owner and buyer Eva Galambos opened Sydney based boutique Parlour X, known for a lush boudoir aesthetic and gallery-style layout of exclusive and limited edition pieces from the world’s most coveted labels.

To mark the occasion Galambos has collaborated with Archibald Prize winning artist and Romance Was Born collaborator Del Kathryn Barton to raise funds for Ian Thorpe’s Fountain for Youth charity, which aims to improve education and health outcomes for Indigenous Australian children.

In celebration, Barton has designed a Parlour X Ten Year Anniversary limited edition scarf which will be available to purchase in store and online, with all money going to the Literacy Backpack Project. The face of the campaign is Samantha Harris, Australia’s first international Aboriginal model, who is a passionate advocate alongside Galambos and Barton.

“We are using creative outpost to not only raise money for a worthy cause but it is the most effective way to educate and deliver such an important message and increase awareness,” said Galambos. “Working with Del Kathryn Barton is so exciting; she pushes boundaries with such confidence. To me, it is not just the end point that is important; it is also the process of the collaboration that has been an inspiration and a journey.”

The Literacy Backpack Project currently assists over 2,200 students and families in 20 remote communities, providing much needed books, education resources, newspapers and magazines to schools and homes. In communities that lack the resources we take for granted, illiteracy rates were as a high as 93 per cent. The Literacy Backpack Program recognises that education and literacy are the crucial pathways to providing opportunities for Indigenous Australians in remote areas; and is a significant step towards closing the gap that still exists between Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians.

Don’t miss out on supporting a worthwhile cause. 100 Parlour X Ten Year Anniversary Limited Edition Scarves have been produced and will be sold for $450 at Parlour X from June 8 2011, and online at www.parlourx.com.
