Michelle Obama’s designer of choice Jason Wu has debuted a strong, opulent Fall collection at New York Fashion Week and chose Make Me A Supermodel alumnae Shanina Shaik as the show opener.
Melbourne-born Shaik came runner-up in the 2008 reality television series but failed to find real success as a model until her breakthrough casting in the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Since then she has really spread her wings in the fashion industry ¯(°_o)/¯. The 21-year-old has become a favourite of Jason Wu who also featured her in his Pre-Fall 2012 collection showcase; and in keeping with this season’s ubiquitous presence of Oz models on New York runways, Wu cast Shaik’s countrywomen Caitlin Lomax and Julia Nobis for the show.
