One Nation Might Get Deregistered For Cocking Up Basic Political Procedures

They just can’t catch a break, can they? Just when all that brouhaha over the kid-abducting lawn Nazi seemed to have wrapped up, Pauline Hanson’s One Nation is now facing an investigation from the Queensland Electoral Commission, after Queensland ALP senator Murray Watt dobbed them in for breaching electoral rules.
In a letter which you can read below, Watt alleges that PHON switched operating structures last November without telling anyone. Even more suspiciously, the change in structure sure looks like it was made to protect certain senior party members from legal liability.
A smart move on the one hand, considering the party’s track record with candidates, but on the other hand, it’s, uh, not legal.

Worse, Watt’s letter says that PHON’s current structure ignores the requirements for a registered political party.
That means that if the Queensland Electoral Commission finds that what Watt’s alleging is true, it’s the end of the road for One Nation. They’ll be deregistered.
Aw, and after such a resounding string of successes, too.

Is anyone really surprised that a party made up of reactionary racists and wowsers with little to no political experience is letting the back end of their operation fall out? Maybe the cold, boring hand of the law will finally put an end to their ghastly nonsense.
In any case: wishing you the very worst in the upcoming proceedings, Pauline.
