Former Speaker of the House and helicopter aficionado Bronwyn Bishop has said “just give me a break, I’ve done nothing wrong” after being confronted with a recently unveiled – and notably incomplete – report into her parliamentary expenses.
The report details around $14,000 in travel expenses Bishop had reimbursed to the taxpayer after Choppergate, but indicates she’d only offered the investigation three years of expense records from her decades-long political career.
Faced with that information, Bishop said “now give me a break. We are talking about the helicopter ride and some small expenses I also repaid and also 25 per cent.”

She also claimed “I did nothing wrong, none of any of that had anything to do with my greed or my pleasure.
“What I was doing was my job.”
She then went on to her favourite topic – those damn lefties – referencing the furore around one of Greens leader Richard Di Natale’s properties.
“Where is the hue and cry? Oh, dare I say it? One rule for those on the conservative side and another rule for socialists.”
