Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita is coming under scrutiny for his utterly baffling support of one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge, who’s serving a 10-year sentence for the manslaughter of Thomas Kelly in 2012.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Fifita has worn a strap emblazoned with the initials F.K.L. (believed to stand for either ‘For Kieran Loveridge’ or ‘Free Kieran Loveridge’) during matches no less than seven times this season.
Police sources confirmed last night that Fifita has made numerous visits to Loveridge in Cessnock jail, and have issued him with a warning for consorting with criminals.
Speculation is now rife as to WTF is going on. There are apparently suggestions that Fifita was a former coach of Loveridge at a Western Sydney rugby club, while Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan said yesterday, before the news of his frequent contact with Loveridge broke, that “a lot of his mates are in jail. That’s the way it is. He won’t desert them, but he understands he can’t contact them.”
