No Mo’ Mustard: Melbs’ Flinders St Station To Be Madeover W/ 1910 Palette

Well, it turns out the Melbourne’s Flinders Street Station redevelopment doesn’t solely consist of removing the pungent dungeon / unused Saw film set that was the men’s toilets.

Premier Daniel Andrews today announced the genuinely stately station will receive a much-needed facelift, and the powers that be are going for a deadset retro look.

The redevelopment crew plan to replicate the station’s OG 1910 livery, doing away with the vibrant mustard visage we’ve all become accustomed to.

An early impression reveals a more subtle tone will be used on the facade, along with an accompaniment of subdued shades. Read: it shouldn’t have been changed in the first place.

A video posted by Andrews reveals the extent of research that went into ensuring the colours are spot-on accurate. It’s also worth watching, purely to reacquaint yourself with the fact that Melbourne can be a goddamn looker sometimes:

The full $100M upgrade is expected to be completed in 2018, but for now, celebrate the fact using the station’s loos no longer comes with the very real risk of undergoing septic shock.
