NO: Egg The Precious Baby Pug Confirmed Dead By New South Wales Police

Look, we’re sorry we have to tell you about this. It sucks for us, too.

Police have confirmed Egg, the tiny pug puppy who was falsely reported stolen in Sydney earlier this month, is dead.

According to officers from Flemington Local Area Command, the miniscule pupper “died at the owner’s home and his body disposed of.”

Yahoo 7 News reports the owner of the 14-month-old pup admitted Egg choked on a dog treat.
This news comes a day after the dog’s 29-year-old owner fessed up to fabricating details of its theft. He was charged by NSW Police for making a false report, but Egg’s whereabouts were still unknown to police as late as yesterday morning.
Police added today that it’s not apparent why the owner felt compelled to allege Egg was stolen at knifepoint by three men in Olympic Park.

The owner is set to appear in Burwood Local Court on April 6 regarding the false report charge.

RIP, little doggo.
