Newly-Engaged Woman Bitten By Venomous Snake ‘Cos All Species Are Petty

A Coffs Harbour couple has received the most Australian engagement present ever: a trip to the hospital, because one of them got bit by a snake.

Oh, like you thought this poisonous land of ours would give someone a good engagement gift. Please.

Jessica Daniel and her boyfriend of seven years, Joshua, rang in her 24th birthday with a sunrise proposal at Digger’s Beach (aww). When the two took a trip to the nearby Big Banana Fun Park to round out the day, however, their celebrations took a turn for the snek.
Daniels was reportedly bitten twice on the big toe by a yellow-faced whip snake while heading up a path to get one last ride in. Speaking to News.com.au, she said:
“It hurt so much … like someone chopped my toe off.”
Yikes.

Fortunately yellow-faced whip snakes, while venomous, aren’t lethal. Daniels got the all clear to go home with her new fiancé, plus an excellent story to tell at the wedding.
Congrats, guys. Sorry the native Australian fauna that decided to get all up in your engagement business was a danger noodle, not a quokka.
