New Balance Suing Karl Lagerfeld Over Alleged Biting Of Sneaker Steez

The sports luxe sneaker brand more nubile Swedish youths prefer, New Balance, are reportedly suing chic vampiric polymath Karl Lagerfeld for biting down hard enough to draw blood on the steez of their classic 1300 sneaker, a design that has been in circulation since the 1970s and has, until recently, managed to escape being co-opted as part of a hackneyed high-fashion trope.

Per a new lawsuit obtained by wily proponents of justice for sneakers and scrub paparazzi alike, TMZ, “New Balance claims Lagerfeld is using a block capital letter ‘K’ on an otherwise identical shoe design [which] creates confusion.” There’s no room for confusion, however, where the price point of the two designs is concerned, with Lagerfeld’s almost parodic shoe retailing at more than twice that of the original ($360 USD).
Also leaving no room for confusion: that Lagerfeld’s predilection for the kind of couture sneakers he repeatedly insists on showing for Chanel could be considered anything other than average at best.
