‘Mushroom Blonde’ Sounds Rank But Is Actually The Perf Summer Hair Colour

mushroom blonde

Y’know when you want to go slightly blonder for summer but you can’t quite find the way to describe the perfect tone to your hairdresser? It’s definitely not platinum or honey, but neither is it that feral-named ‘mousey brown’ shade. It’s somewhere in-between.

Plus, there are only so many times you can say the word ‘ashy’ without sounding like you wanna leave the salon looking like your nanna.

Well, chums, I’ve got good news for you. That ‘creamy-caramel-but-also-kinda-brown-but-not-brassy’ shade now has a name. And it’s random as heck.

It’s called ‘Mushroom Blonde’.

me ‘scuse?

Yup, sounds kinda foul, but it’s actually so.bloody.pretty.

Side note: I don’t know why hair colour trends keep getting named after foods. So far we’ve had everything from PB&J to toasted coconut hair take over our Insta feeds in 2018, with no end in sight. Whatever the reason is behind the edible hair theme, we can relate to the unrelenting ‘food on the mind’ mentality. But back to ‘shroomy blonde.

One quick search of the #MushroomBlonde hashtag on Instagram and BOOM. There’s a treasure trove of fre$h summer hair inspo all in the one place. Depending on what you’re after, you can either ask your hairdresser to tone down your blonde shades in favour of a cooler hue, or gently lighten your brunette strands – the choice is yours.

Alternatively, if you’ve been contemplating going blonde, but can’t quite psych yourself up to go the full-hog in one go, this is a happy intermediary step.

Without further ado, here’s a load of pics you can screenshot for your next hairdresser appointment, saving you the awkward ‘ashy’ runaround:
