A Model Went Into Labour Immediately After Walking In Rihanna’s NYFW Show

22-year-old model Slick Woods walked in Rihanna‘s NYFW Savage x Fenty lingerie show on Wednesday, before going into labour backstage, TMZ reveals.

The show was roundly praised for celebrating a range of different skin tones and body types – including pregnant women.

Woods, also the face of Fenty Beauty, stunned the catwalk in black pasties and cutout lingerie, paired with nude-coloured, thigh-high pantyhose, and she looked absolutely .

When she began to experience contractions, paramedics reportedly arrived to the venue in Brooklyn, and transported Woods to the nearest hospital.

Woods had been expecting a baby son – who she intended to name Saphir – with her partner, model and musician Adonis Bosso.

Speaking to Paper Mag in an interview earlier this week, Bosso described finding out he was going to be a father as a “gift“. He told the publication:

I felt like everything happens for a reason. Even though it’s not something we planned it was the most amazing news I’ve ever gotten. I’ll always remember when I found out. I was in the middle of the street with my guitar, I was actually headed to my guitar class. When she told me I just couldn’t contain myself.

Looking back, it was actually really cinematic. Imagine being in the middle of the street in New York with a guitar on your back finding out such life-changing news. I basically stopped the rest of my day and went to see her, and then we went to see her parents and tell them.

Meanwhile, talking to Elle back in July, Woods drew upon her difficult upbringing, her mother was convicted of manslaughter when she was just four.

She grew up in her impoverished grandmother’s care, sometimes living in motels and cars, dropped out of high school at 17, was imprisoned at 18, and had become a heavy drug user by 19.

She was homeless in 2015 when she was spotted by another model on the street, and soon booked her first gig modelling for Kanye West‘s Yeezy lookbook.

She told Elle that she saw her impending shot at motherhood as an opportunity for healing:

At 14, 15, I never expected to ever be giving any type of life; to be this happy with having a child. From not having family to being able to create your own. Things you lacked, things you missed out on, trauma – you can erase that by creating new life. All those things you didn’t get, all those hugs and kisses. I can retract those things with my son’s life.

In giving him that childhood, it heals you as well. In hugging your son, it’s giving a piece of that back to you, too. I need him as much as he needs me.

We are wayyyyyyyyy too excited about new baby Saphir. Wishing his folks – and Aunty Ri – all the luck and love in the world.
