Miss Iceland Is So Done, Drops Outta Comp After Being Told To Lose Weight

Miss Iceland has announced via Instagram that she pulled out of an international beauty pageant after staff allegedly told her to eat less and lose weight.

Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir, who by any standard probably does not need to eat less and lose weight, posted a handwritten letter to Insta about quitting popular contest Miss Grand International

My goodbye letter????

“I am a very strong woman, but sometimes my strength isn’t enough,” she writes. “Your staff told me that I had to lose weight for the finals because I have too much fat on me and also too big shoulders.”

In a statement, the president of Miss Grand International Organization, Nawat Itsaragrisil says that she could have been told that “may be a little bit fat,” but that this is basically standard procedure for this kind of competition. Which, I guess, is the point.

“This is a normal process for the three weeks during the pageant, everyone should show their improvement,” he said. “Similarly the staff give the same advice for others who asked what should they do to improve in order to win.”

Fans were chuffed that Jónsdóttir stuck it to ’em:

What’s Miss Iceland up to sans competition? She says she’ll be sticking round Las Vegas – half ya luck – and “eating good food”. Onya.
