Mischa Barton Says Revenge Porn Attack Was “Complete Emotional Blackmail”

Mischa Barton has discussed the moment she discovered she was the victim of a revenge porn attack, telling Dr. Phil “I didn’t believe it at first.”

The former The O.C. actress told the host she only discovered somebody was shopping the intimate footage around when “somebody came up to me on the street, outside of the building leaving, and said ‘there’s something I need to tell you.’”

The 31-year-old said “I couldn’t believe it because I had loved this person and I didn’t think it was possible, and I later learned that it was entirely possible.”

Since the incident, Barton has obtained a restraining order and filed a police report against the ex allegedly responsible. 

When asked about her response to the incident, Barton replied “it was obviously complete emotional blackmail, it as one of those things where I needed to distance myself from all of these people immediately.”

Barton said “I have made the mistake of putting myself in that situation with the person, so I just removed myself from it as quickly as I could. 


“And then it just continued to be complete emotional abuse after that, for the past several, several months.”

She also discussed the concerning January incident which saw her hospitalised for a mental health evaluation after having her drink spiked with GHB.
