Good lord, we could not be more royal wedding obsessed if we tried. We’re literally at the point here at P.TV HQ where we are Googling close ups of Prince Harry‘s left foot (not really but hey I might later tbh).
One thing I’m personally wasting my Monday morning with is all the intricate details to Meghan Markle‘s wedding outfit. I LOVED her dress (some said it was boring, I say it was elegant and minimalist) and died over all the little details that were involved, like her very sentimental bouquet which had a nod to Princess Diana (cue tears).
One element I swooned over was her extravagant veil. At first I thought it was OTT, but then I fell in love with the detail and the drama. Sooooo I decided to download a bunch of pics of it and show you close-up!
The veil was designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, along with Meghan’s ceremony dress. Clare is actually the first female artistic director for Givenchy, fun fact. It was 5 metres long and made of silk tulle. The floral trim was hand-embroidered and made of silk thread and organza.
Here’s the full thing from the back.
And then I zoomed in for you so you can see the detail on the edges. Lol not for YOU actually. It was primarily so I could see it. Did you know that Meghan personally requested that the veil have distinctive flora from all 53 countries in the Commonwealth? WHAT A QUEEN MOVE (even though she will never be queen).
The front of the veil had crops of wheat embroidered, to symbolise love and charity.
Here’s a closer look.
Australia’s flora inclusion? Golden wattle.
Along with the 53 flora, Meghan also had two of her personal favourite flowers included – Wintersweet, which grows on the Kensington Palace grounds in front of Nottingham Cottage – that’s where Harry and Meghan are going to live now that they’re married – and California Poppy, the State flower for California where Meghan was born.
You cannot get more sentimental than this, folks.
Also, Clare Waight Keller was apparently so secretive about her involvement, she didn’t even TELL HER HUSBAND OR KIDS.
#royalwedding Meghan’s Givenchy dress designer Clare Waight-Keller kept it so secret she didn’t even tell her husband or kids. When I door-knocked her 2 weeks ago to ask her about working with Meghan & making the dress she denied even meeting her!! Only 5 people knew (& me…) pic.twitter.com/KWNYtB7zeN
