I have that kind of skin where everything you put on it literally is sucked into the pores. That’s probably so scientifically incorrect, but the vibe is – if I apply all my makeup in the morning, by 11am it’s completely gone. Where did it go? Don’t try and tell me it’s in the air or on my hands, I maintain my belief that my skin ate it.
Regardless, I’ve forever been on the hunt for long-wear foundation that doesn’t budge, but still feels nice on the skin. I feel like this is a universal issue for anyone who wears a full face of foundation/has pigmentation or uneven skin tone they like to cover up. Sooooo I tried a bunch for you! And these were the standouts.
NARS NATURAL RADIANT LONGWEAR FOUNDATION
Nars have long been known for their epic foundations, and this newer product is no exception. It’s got a high-coverage but natural finish – think glowy but not greasy-looking – and lasts FOREVER. You’ll definitely still look fresh at the end of the day.
FENTY PROFILT’R SOFT MATTE FOUNDATION
Rihanna did not hold back with her first beauty collection, and this foundation was a highlight – it comes in 40 shades, which means there’s absolutely one for your skin tone, and the matte finish doesn’t look “flat”. It does have a rep for being a bit drying compared to other foundations, but if you moisturise right you’ll be sweet.
REVLON COLORSTAY FULL COVER FOUNDATION
A newbie from Revlon, this high-coverage foundation will lock down any greasiness through the day, and is sweat-proof. Perfect now the weather’s warming up, eh?
ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR STAY-IN-PLACE FOUNDATION
This is a cult fave among people with oily skin and acne – it’s high coverage, so it covers up any/all blemishes, and it’s oil free so it won’t make you break out.
MAYBELLINE NEW YORK SUPERSTAY 24HR FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION
A long-time cult fave, this Maybelline foundation lasts forever, never feels dry or flaky, and offers full coverage without the dull skin vibes. It’s also super affordable.
KAT VON D LOCK-IT LIQUID FOUNDATION
Kat Von D’s concealer and foundation are known to be so heavy-duty and long wear, you could even cover a small tatt with ’em. They’re comfy to wear and really go the distance.
URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER LIQUID FOUNDATION
With a name like ‘All Nighter’, this was obviously going to serve up the goods. It’s waterproof, oil free, matte and ultra long wearing – yep, you can absolutely wear this one on your next 3am finish club night and leave looking like a 10.
GIORGIO ARMANI POWER FABRIC FOUNDATION
Their Luminous Silk foundation is the cult buy, but the newer Power Fabric is the one to hit up when you want serious coverage and a base that’ll get your through a long work day.
ELLA BACHE GREAT SUNGUARD SPF 40 FOUNDATION
The Great Sunguard SPF40 Foundation might come out of the tube like the paint you were only allowed to use as a kid because you weren’t trusted with acrylics but holy shit is it good. Our Music Editor Courtney wore it to Splendour for three full days of interviews and mild stress and it didn’t budge. It’s now her go-to when I know I need to have a good face all day and then a full face at night with zero time for touch-ups. Plus that 40+ SPF is a bloody godsend.
YSL ALL HOURS FOUNDATION
Transfer-resistant and long-wear, this foundation gives a soft matte finish and feels like you’re wearing nothing TBH.
MAC STUDIO FIX FLUID
An oldie but a goodie, MAC’s Studio Fix is loved by makeup artists globally for giving a natural finish that stays put on those sweaty runways. The shade range is schmick too.
