Lonely Hearts Take Inspiration From Teen Killing Sprees

Don’t worry, New Zealand’s Lonely Hearts aren’t finding inspiration in grim serial killers. On the contrary, their AW10 collection “What Is Your Damage?” takes inspiration from the good kind of killer – the cute, funny, Winona Ryder circa ’88 type. The killer you’d gladly take a knife to the throat for – or is that just me?

“What Is Your Damage?” as should be apparent to anyone born before 1998 is a reference to cult teen flick Heathers a black comedy about High School cliques and teenage killing. In Lonely Hearts’ highly wearable Autumn/Winter collection this (late 80’s high school, not killing sprees) translates into clunky footwear, polka dot pants, tartan blazers, virginal white blouses and slinky knitted pieces. The look book is accompanied by a Tim Van Dammen Directed video and perfectly illustrates why party princesses, fashion followers and dead gay sons alike will love this beautiful off-kilter collection.
