Australia has a rich, varied abundance of fuckwits – some of the highest quality fuckwits in the world – and yet, somehow, Tasmanian senator and taxpayer-funded fuckwit Eric Abetz manages to make himself stand out as a fuckwit of truly immense proportion.
Abetz’s jobs appear primarily to be a) falling on the wrong side of issues and b) acting perplexed when people point out that he is being a huge dingus.
As a member of the Liberal Party‘s conservative wing, he’s made a name for himself by being vocally against both the Safe Schools program and marriage equality, and just sort of generally (as previously mentioned) being a fuckwit.
This time he has focused his fuckwit laser on “media bias” in favour of LGBTIQ people, having elected one more in a series of extremely weird hills to die on:
“Ever notice how when some people go from the heterosexual to homosexual lifestyle they are able to be celebrated and honoured for their honesty and courage? They’ve come out.”“Ever thought why there is no celebration for those that decide to go from the homosexual to heterosexual lifestyle? Are they not honest? Are they not coming out as well? And that is just one of the examples of the one-way traffic and bias from the media.”
Mate, maybe next time apply like even a second’s critical thought before you open your big weird mouth.
It might have something to do with the fact that we don’t currently live in the amazing alternate universe where everyone is assumed to be gay until they work up the courage to announce to the world that they are actually straight.
It’s never been dangerous or criminal to be straight, it’s not something people have ever had to keep a secret, and thus not really a cause for any celebration for anyone to reveal that they are, in fact, heterosexual.
It might also have something to do with the fact that, compared to how many people come out as gay, it pretty much never happens – it’s just not really a thing.
Keep fighting the good fight mate – that fight of course being a pointless and ugly struggle against a more inclusive, nicer world.
Fuckwit.
