Ksubi Founder George Gorrow leaves The Brand

ksubi co-founder George Gorrow is leaving the brand after 12 years, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Along with his fellow ksubi co-founder Dan Single, Gorrow is personally responsible for giving the then rigid, mannerly Australian fashion industry an injection of hedonism. If sass & bide were the fashion-forward denim saviours for girls, then ksubi – or tsubi, as it was originally known – was the pantswer for stylish dudes with a predilection for sex, drugs and rock and roll.

The tidal nature of the local fashion industry hasn’t always allowed for smooth sailing, with the company going into voluntary administration in early 2010, before getting saved by a joint venture with streetwear manufacturer Bleach.

In the past two years ksubi has made a comeback, producing the brand’s strongest most cohesive collections to date, “W.A.R.” and “Bad Sports” for Spring/Summer 2012.

It’s partially due to the success of the last few collections that Gorrow has decided to leave. He told the Sydney Morning Herald, “It’s not in my nature to leave something on a low… so I thought what better time to leave than on a high?”
