Kim Kardashian West has taken to Twitter to announce the relaunch of her shaperwear line, this time named ‘SKIMS’.
The shapewear line, set for a September 10 release, has been shrouded in controversy since Kim problematically named the line ‘Kimono’, rightfully sending the public into a frenzy.

She tweeted today: “My fans and followers are a huge inspiration to me – I’m always listening to their feedback and opinions, and am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name. After much thought and consideration, I’m excited to announce the launch of SKIMS Solutionwear™.”
“Shapewear has been at least a decade or more in the making for me.” – @KimKardashian

“I love the idea that the pieces will be the closest thing to someone’s skin, skimming with amazingly soft and supportive fabrics which accentuate the best parts of our bodies,” she later added.
While this name is definitely an improvement from ‘Kimono’, why does ‘SKIMS’ now make me yearn for a Freddie and Effy marathon?
Twitter also has some thoughts:
This is a much better name well done Kimberly

OMG! She called them SKIMS.
“Skim” means to “to clear (a liquid) of scum or floating substance,” or alternatively, “To become coated with a thin layer of film or scum.”— the glaciers are vanishing (@gitagovinda) August 27, 2019
Real talk, though – you have to give Kim credit for acknowledging the initial misjudgement, listening to the public and subsequently changing the name, right?
