It appears Kevin Rudd has confused leadership tension with sexual tension when the former prime minister addressed reporters ahead of the opening of the parliamentary year.
Pressed as to whether his supporters were counting the numbers for another leadership challenge, Rudd replied: “Oh give us a break, you know, give us a break. I
said 12 months ago that I supported the Prime Minister… (and) that
remains my position and everyone should take a very long cold shower.”

Right… We can only assume the KRudd was using the cold shower as a metaphor to douse leadership speculation. But where there’s smoke there’s fire with an anonymous Rudd supporter indicating that he was just 7 votes shy of being able to mount a successful challenge. Conjecture over a possible leadership coup have been further fuelled by a recent appearance on Channel 7’s popularity boosting Sunrise and a noted effort to get down with the younger members of his constituency.
Producers of the upcoming Howzat!-esque Prime Ministerial drama will be licking their lips at the prospect of a sequel. If Underbelly has taught us anything about Australian viewer tastes, Prime Minister Battle 2 will start with that cold shower.
