Kendall Jenner’s Newest Shoot Is Being Scorched Over Cultural Appropriation

Ah Kendall Jenner. I love ya, but GOD do you make it hard sometimes.

From that tone deaf Pepsi ordeal, to the comments about being more ‘selective’ than other models, girl’s really got a gift for riling up the interwebs.

Kendall’s latest controversy, however, is slightly different to her previous dealios because it dives into the cultural appropriation space.

For her latest photoshoot with Vogue, Kendall’s shown reppin’ an afro like it’s NBD and, naturally, the internet’s collectively shaking its heads in dismay.

Here’s the shoot that’s landed Ken in scolding hot water:

Oh, and there’s this pic one too, showing Kendall donnin’ the ‘fro next to Imaan Hammam….

Salt is then added to the wound when you read the accompanying captions, which talk about the CDFA and increased diversity in the fashion industry.

Seriously though, WHO APPROVES THIS SHIT?! Like, if you’re not sure you’re gonna offend people, how about just show this pic to one person of colour before publishing?

Naturally, Twitter has some strong feelings about Kendall’s fake afro:

Others were quick to point out that they didn’t think the hair ‘do was actually an afro, before telling everyone to calm TF down:

Whether you think Kendall’s hair’s been styled as an afro or not, I think we can all agree it was still a pretty dumbass decision.

Acknowledging it probs wasn’t their best idea to date, Vogue‘s responded to the backlash, saying:

The image is meant to be an update of the romantic Edwardian/Gibson Girl hair which suits the period feel of the Brock Collection, and also the big hair of the ’60s and the early ’70s, that puffed-out, teased-out look of those eras.

We apologize if it came across differently than intended, and we certainly did not mean to offend anyone by it.”

Kendall ain’t the first (and definitely not the last) Kardashian family member to get dragged for cultural appropriation.

Kim’s repped those Bo Derek braids more times than I care to mention:

And Kylie’s been going ham on the cornrows for far too long:

Can we stop the madness already, guys? Dis ain’t cool.
