Jarryd Hayne Lands First Major US Sponsorship Deal

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Jarryd Hayne has inked his first major U.S sponsorship deal in the U.S, signing with apparel giant Under Armour to spruik its products along the likes of NFL superstar ambassadors Cam Newton and Tom Brady. Other big names in sport who also back the brand include Jordan Spieth, Aussie NBA star Patty Mills, Steph Curry, Michael Phelps, Andy Murray and Memphis Depay.

The Aussie 49er confirmed the deal in an interview with the Today Show this morning, saying it’s been in talks “for months”:
“This partnership was a natural fit for me — Under Armour is a powerful global brand with a deep history in American football. I have used Under Armour gear throughout my NFL training and it gives me a definite advantage.

To be with a company that’s about the underdogs, that’s something I’ve loved. They have some great guys on board, Patty Mills and Steph Curry. Guys I look up to who have taken America by storm.”

Good to be apart of the family @underarmour

It’s TBC whether Hayne will make his NFL debut in San Francisco’s season opener against Minnesota on Tuesday, AEST, but that hasn’t stopped sporting companies like Under Armour clamouring for a seat aboard the Hayne Plane.
“Jarryd epitomises everything we stand for as a brand — hard work, will and determination,” says Will Phillips, Managing Director, Under Armour Australia. “He is writing his own story and we are excited to watch it unfold.”
The company tweeted its excitement at adding the former Eel to its roster for A-listers, while Patty Mills tweeted Hayne a congratulatory message.

As for the San Francisco v. Minnesota game, Hayne isn’t letting the constant speculation get at him.

“It’s not about just making it, it’s about being on the active roster, going out there and doing my part for the team,” he told Karl and Lisa on Today. “If you get the call up, you get the call up. It’s all about the experience and learning every day.”

Atta boy!
