Japanese Homeware Gods Muji Announce Sydney Store Opening

Step aside Scandinavian homewares behemoths, Japan’s Muji arrives in Sydney on the 14th May at The Galeries and its mixture of minimalistic design and functionality will have you asking softly, yet firmly, for more.

Muji is the kind of store that makes you feel like everything is alright, because now that you’re in soft cotton jeans and a stylish yet understated top, eating out of wooden dinnerware and sleeping cocooned in Belgian sheets, it is.
It was about time the Japanese emporium came to Australia – with more than 600 outlets worldwide, plus two stores in Melbourne, Sydneysiders have been chafing at the bit to get some of that sweet zen stuff.

If you’re worried they might not have everything you need – don’t be. At 1022.84sqm, the new flagship store will have more floorspace than three average Aussie homes put together. Muji have also announced plans to open an Australian online store later this year, but if their bricks and mortar stores are anything to go by, this local flagship store is gonna be more relaxing than a Valium.
