As Fashion Journal has unearthed, the catwalk for Jacquemus’ 10th anniversary presentation has fashheads losing their damn minds. It’s in a literal field of lavenders in the French countryside, folks. A 500-metre-long pink runway under a bright blue sky, flowers all around, devilishly stylish, very handsome people trotting along it – it’s basically a sex dream you wish you’d had already.

In an interview with Vogue, Simon Porte Jacquemus described his moodboard as a “tequila sunrise” and admitted: “With this runway, some people will only remember the lavender. Others will see the similarity with the Hockney painting. I want everyone to understand my work.

The 29-year-old French designer, who “love[s] blue and white, stripes, sun, fruit, poetry, Marseille and the ’80s“, appears to have dedicated the collection to his mummo. That’s wholesome af. The least you could do is call your mum now.

Jacquemus’ SS20 collection was inspired by David Hockney‘s Royal Academy of Arts installation The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 (twenty eleven), Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Post-Expressionist Paul Cézanne and Jean Lurçat. Its title, Le Coup de Soleil, translates to ‘The Sunburn’. Apt, considering the brightness and high saturation of the pieces – you can almost hear them hiss, the future thwppppp of peeling sunburn – including 35 exclusive prints.

Instagram shots of the Jacquemus collection have already inspired gasps of adoration and probably panicked calls to personal assistants to ‘GET ME THAT NOW!!!’ from the likes of Kendall Jenner, Kate Bosworth, Dua Lipa and Vanessa Hudgens.
