‘Invader Zim’ Is Getting A Movie Over A Decade After It Was Cancelled

Nickelodeon really is going hard on the strategy of prodding the engorged nostalgia glands of twenty-somethings with a content stick, hey? The network announced today that they’re bringing back tiny Earth conqueror Invader Zim for a TV movie – after more than a decade off the air.

This follows plans by Nickelodeon to bring back two other beloved properties – Hey Arnold! and Rocko’s Modern Life – for their own TV movies.
Invader Zim, which is the brainchild of comic book author Jhonen Vasquez, was about a murderous extraterrestrial named Zim who seeks to establish a reconnaissance mission on Earth so his fellow Irken can invade and conquer. You might remember it as being extremely popular with the same people in high school who loved or would come to love My Chemical Romance.
