How To Get A Job At Ksubi, Insight Or Something Else

In coordination with our employment-enabling buddies over at Pedestrian Jobs, we’re proud to present the first in a series of industry Q&As with some of the most highly sought-after advertisers on our Jobs website. First up, Tim Morris – operations manager for Bleach – who handles recruitment for Ksubi, Insight and Something Else. No biggie. Here are a couple of things you’re going to want to know ahead of your next job interview with some of Australian fashion’s biggest names:

What do you love about your work? The people, culture, new projects, the challenges i.e. changing market place and online.

Can you give us a quick run-down of your career progression? I grew up surfing, skating and snowboarding. I began work in the Board Sports Industry with Burton Snowboards, Volcom & Nixon back in the day (1990)! Then I worked across all aspects of the company, progressing from road trips, demo days at the snow, managing teams of athletes to facility management, legal contracts, to operations manager, and Director of Human Resources and COO (Chief Operating Officer) at Bleach.

What are you looking for in a potential employee? Cultural fit, skill base, and common sense.

How important are the following:
University Degree? Important not essential
Relevant Industry experience? Yes, but we are open to training the right people (it’s about the individual).
Internships? Yes.

What really stands out in a job application (Cover Letter/Resume)? Any specific examples of applications that have blown your mind? A good resume with summary page (snap shot) detail behind, and yes, with a cover letter attached. I had a really great CV recently with Minty’s in the envelope!

What interview tips would you give people trying to land their dream job? Be authentic!

What are three interview questions that people should always have an answer for?
Q: What is your greatest achievement, with an example!
Q: What would your last two Managers/Boss say about you un-edited?
Q: Do you surf?
Q: Why do you want to work for our company?

What is the one piece of advice you would give past you at the start of your career? Make sure you are passionate about your Job!
