Fancy Things You Can Buy To Finally Score The Rapunzel Hair Of Your Dreams

There are few things more frustrating than wanting long, luscious hair. Even someone with fast-growing strands will be looking at minimum year before seeing some noticeable length going on – let alone the plebs like us, who seem to be destined to never reach beyond some long lob situation.

There are products out there to help us out, though. The most important thing to remember is DAMAGE IS YOUR WORST ENEMY. Not caring for your hair through a good diet and protecting it from the elements/heat damage is a surefire way to never getting anywhere.

Here are some products we trialled and enjoyed that can help you out.

VIVISCAL

Viviscal Maximum Strength Supplement, pk 60, $69.99

The stuff models at NYFW and celebs use after months of their hair being pulled and styled into oblivion, Viviscal uses shark cartilage (!!!) as well as biotin and Zinc to encourage hair growth, resulting in thicker, stronger strands.

SISLEY

Sisley Revitalising Fortifying Serum For The Scalp, $240

It’s pricey, but most scalp-based hair growth products are gonna be, FYI. This one uses plant-based extracts, vitamins and minerals like zinc, copper, magnesium and vitamin B6, and proteins to work deep into the scalp, encouraging resistance and strength from the get-go.

KERASTASE

Kerastase Resistance Fibre Architecte, $52

Half the issue with hair growth is keeping your strands from snapping off – the more damage you get on your ends, the weaker your hair strand – which means it won’t grow, it’ll just split and snap. Using a heavy-duty serum that combats heat damage while sealing up those ends temporarily will prevent further damage, and also keep those ends from further snapping before you can trim them at the hairdresser.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE

Bumble & Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil Primer, $40

Another biggie? Looking after your hair while it’s wet. Brushing out knots and tangles without something detangling in there to make it easy is a surefire way to snap strands. This primer not only detangles, it protects from heat damage and adds softness.

3 MORE INCHES

3 More Inches Pre-Wash Treatment, $57

When something’s had 67 ratings on Mecca and maintains a 4.6/5 review score, you take notice. 3 More Inches is a cult haircare brand committed to hair growth, and this pre-wash treatment is a hero product. It helps to slow the hair ageing process, so your growth is faster – and hair is stronger from the root.

AVEDA

Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment, $55

Like we said, repair is your best bet for encouraging hair growth. While hair lengths *are* dead, you can temporarily fix them with softening and smoothing masks, which mean less future damage, and a softer finish. This mask works by using quinoa proteins to strengthen damaged hair, and helps reinforce hair from the roots.
