Okay, so y’all are familiar with Guzmen Y Gomez? Lil’ Mexican fast food chain? Serves alcohol? Expanding to drive-through later this year? (On second thought… yikes.)
Anyway, that Guzman Y Gomez. Well its founder, Steven Marks, has come out swinging against Australia’s favourite drink, the espresso martini, calling it a boring drink for “basic bitches”.
No, we are not making this up.
The context: apparently it’s International Margarita Day, and the humble tequila bevy is only Australia’s second favourite cocktail, so you could say Steven is a little bit…. salty.
“Are they even still serving espresso martinis?” he asked us earlier today, and by ‘they’ we can only assume he means every single bar in metropolitan Australia. “It’s so overdone, it’s so fucking boring. They just get you jacked up, and… yeah, they’re for basic bitches.”
