Golden, Delicious: Apple’s New iPhone Models Unveiled

Tech giant Apple are holding on to what’s golden with their latest iPhone product announcement. As predicted, at a special event in California yesterday, the company released two new iPhone models, the high-end 5S model, and the cheaper (although certainly not cheap, at $739) 5C model.

The 5C is made of plastic, comes in white, blue, green, yellow and pink, and was developed to “counter the flood of low-cost smartphones from rivals, most of which use Google’s Android operating system.” The Age reports.

The high-end 5S model has an updated camera (with built in #filters), a chip that Apple claims will work twice as fast as the iPhone 5, a fingerprint sensor located on the home button, and comes in GOLD! And also silver and grey. But GOLD!

The (gold)fingerprint scanner on the 5S can be used to unlock the phone, and also as a kind of “digital signature” to confirm purchases on the app store.

iOS 7, the latest version of Apple‘s mobile operating system, was also introduced, and will be available on all the new phones, and as an update for existing iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches.

You can look forward to cracking the screen on your blinged-out phone in Australia from September 20. Better get your place in line now.
