GHD Is Trying To Make Hair Crimping A Thing Again, & TBH We’re Here For It

Cast your mind back to 2001. If you try and tell me you weren’t gathering your mates and learning the dance moves to this ~iconic~ music video, you’re fucking lying.

Just in case you were, I don’t know, not born yet or some shit – that’s Christina Aguilera mid-gyration in the ‘Lady Marmalade‘ video clip. It’s an iconic video, and not just because it featured everyone’s early 00’s faves on one track. It was also peak-2001 beauty lewks – yep, full hair crimping was the shiiiiit.

While crimps were cool as fuck back then, you likely wouldn’t be caught dead repping that hair in 2017. Which frankly, is a damn shame but whatever. We’re all boring.

GHD just won’t take it. They will NOT take our boring, 2017 hair. Which is why they’ve dropped a brand, spankin’ new styling tool – The Contour.

The Contour is basically a fancy name for a crimping iron. Haven’t seen one of them since your school years? Neither. But where in the past we clamped the shit out of our strands to create the all-over frizz look, GHD’s take is a bit more, well, day-to-day wearable.

Aside from adding texture to once-blah hairstyles, you can also use The Contour to amp up volume in limp hair, which is bloody GENIUS. Anyone with fine hair knows keeping styles that require root volume on lock is near impossible. Adding secret crimps though will help create grit and hold.

The Contour landed in stores and online today, and retails at a cool $169. X-Tina, eat your heart out.
