Brisbane designer George Wu has called his Spring Summer 2010/2011 collection “Antidote Intoxication” which was inspired by the stark setting of a biosynthesis laboratory. I thought it was actually Yoda-speak for “pie, postmix Coca Cola and 2 Panadol, please.”
The collection was derived from the concept of the lab coat, and the sterile mood, dedication to monochromatic tones, and masculine-meets-feminine androgyny carries across the ‘science lab’ feel – as well as the reference to Edward Scissorhands, another sterile, monochromatic, androgynous science project.
