Nicole Warne’s Wild Pre-Wedding Prep Involved Thrice-Weekly Facials

Weddings are (obviously) a big deal – and while you might scoff at the idea of men/women forking out bucketloads of cash for months leading up to their ~big day~, the reality is it’s gotta be the #1 moment when cameras are shoved in your face for hours. Unless you’re Kim Kardashian or something.

Basically, you’re going to be photographed to death so you’d best believe you’ll want phenomenal skin/hair, right?

Nicole Warne, the gal behind Gary Pepper Girl, got married this month. Given she’s a big-name influencer you’d think she was already sold on the idea of going to town with the beauty treatments pre-wedding, right? Wrong.

“All that beauty and health and fitness—the bridal overdrive I see so many people jump into leading up to their big day—was never something that appealed to me…until it happened to me,” she wrote today on Into The Gloss.

For Nicole, the prep became a time where she just got to treat herself without feeling shit about it. Which like – fair enough.

For once, I didn’t feel guilty for making the time to work out or disappearing for hours to get my hair done. It’s the one time in your life that you feel like you’re “allowed” to put yourself first, and it’s so, so fun.

What did that look like? Well.

BEAUTY

Nicole’s a huge fan of Aussie facialist Melanie Grant – Melanie treats everyone from Cate Blanchett to Nic Trunfio, by the way. She’s been seeing her for years but a month out from her wedding, Nicole upped her treatment schedule to THREE TIMES A WEEK. Good lord.

Once a month she’d get her skin deep cleaned, but her facials also involved wild stuff like custom enzyme peels, light therapy, a bunch of actives like vitamin c and ferulic acid applied with ultrasound to penetrate them deep into skin, and a facial massage. Luxury at it’s peak, mates.

The morning of my wedding, Melanie came over and we did a quick facial,” she said. “This isn’t normal—and I don’t recommend it if you don’t know without a doubt what your results will be—but I felt radiant.”

She also got a lash lift, which she froths on.

I’ve had eyelash extensions in the past, but they would last about a week before they started falling out. A friend told me about eyelash lifts, and after trying my first one I was hooked. My eyelashes looked twice as long even before I applied mascara.

Finally, she had her teeth whitened and her bottom teeth straightened.

FITNESS

Fitness-wise, Nicole said pre-wedding prep she was hitting the gym around 3 times a week. Then, four weeks out, she committed to three classes a week with her personal trainer plus two private sessions that focused on lifting heavier weights. She also committed to two private pilates sessions.

A month out I started private sessions with my Pilates teacher, Kirsten King at Fluidform in Waterloo. She is the real deal. Kirsten changed my alignment, posture, and life when I first started seeing her a few years ago due to lower back pain.

She also had an Epsom salt bath once a week, and a remedial massage every two weeks so her fit as shit muscles didn’t seize up.

Both felt like luxuries but really, I should have been doing these regardless of my wedding.

FYI Epsom salt baths are the shiiiiit and so cheap, guys. You can totally be Nicole Warne on this one.

DIET

Nicole’s been on a supremely healthy diet for 2 years – she’s plant-based and caffeine-free (I on the other hand can’t stop eating burgers and drink like 4 cups a day so FML). But a month out she ramped it up.

I cut out refined sugars, alcohol, and whole grains. I lived on a diet of plant-based protein, vegetables, some complex carbs, fruit, and natural fats.

She also swears by a naturopath, although she acknowledges they can be controversial. Hers gave her some Chinese herbal tonics to give her glowy skin.

Mental health wise, she did weekly Vinyasa yoga or Bikram.

MAKEUP

I’m already extremely exhausted HOWEVER I was well keen to know what makeup Nicole wore on her wedding day, bc she looked glowy as HELL. Sure, a big part of that was probably all that phenom skincare TLC she’d been doing but still.

Nicole’s makeup was done by Victoria Baron, and the brief was “luminous, dewy and fresh looking”.

I knew I’d be crying a lot, so she didn’t apply my usual winged eyeliner and used fake individual eyelashes to accentuate my eyes instead,” she said.

Product wise, Victoria used Chanel Sheer Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer, Giorgio Armani Power Fabric FoundationChanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush #410 on the cheeks, Mecca Cosmetica Enlightened Powder for highlighter, Nars Duo Eyeshadow in St-Paul-de-Vence with Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara, and Chanel Rouge Coco in Daylight on lips.
