Gai Waterhouse Guilty Of Two Charges, Fined Chump Change

Today Racing New South Wales has found racing royalty matriarch Gai Waterhouse guilty of both the charges she was facing in the More Joyous inquiry.

In what has been the most ridiculous and inexplicably frontpage headline-yielding racing scandal since the term fine cotton meant a lot more than the key ingredient of quality bedclothes, Racing NSW stewards issued the famous trainer fines for not reporting a condition which could affect a horse’s performance ($5,000), and failing to keep up-to-date records of treatment the horse, More Joyous, had received ($500).

Gai Waterhouse described the incident as one that “has been embarrassing to racing”. She has also said, “Even the Queen said to her racing manager, ‘what is going on with Gai Waterhouse in Australia’.” A #humblebrag referring to Carlton House, the horse she trains for Queen Elizabeth II.

For the less mathematically inclined, Ms Waterhouse will pay a total of $5,500 in fines, or what might be referred to as “ha ha ha LOL chump change worth less than this custom Philip Treacy fascinator, my dears” for the Australian Racing Hall of Fame inductee who’s worth gajillions.
