Fuckwits Who Filmed Themselves Kicking A Quokka Charged With Animal Cruelty

Here’s something completely apolitical that we can all agree on: anyone who abuses animals is a huge cunt. It doesn’t get much more straightforward than that. There’s a reason animal cruelty is one of the early warning signs of being a psychopath, and that’s because it requires having a deep and borderline inhuman lack of empathy.
What could drive someone to decide that kicking one of the most objectively adorable animals in the world (the thing is literally fucking smiling all the time) is absolutely beyond me. What could drive a second person to not only film this but audibly laugh at it is fucking baffling – maybe they were in town for a serial killer convention, who fucking knows. But this is exactly what happened, and being not only vicious, animal-abusing dickheads, they were also huge enough dumbasses to post the footage online.
If you feel like feeling equal parts sickened and violently angry, you can watch it below, but it is absolutely not compulsory or even recommended:
WA Police (in slightly different words) said that these complete fuckwits would not go unpunished, and they appear to be moving very swiftly, having already charged two men who were detained attempting to catch the barge back to Fremantle from Rottnest Island this morning.
The 21-year-old and 20-year-old, from North Yunderup and Falcon, respectively, have been charged with cruelty to animals for the incident, which police are saying took place around 6pm yesterday.
The pair are facing fines of up to $50,000 and a maximum jail sentence of five years, which, honestly, they would both fully deserve.
Two French tourists who set a quokka on fire in 2015 chose jail after being given the choice between serving time and coughing up $4000. Another case in 2015 saw a teenager hit with a $2500 fine after kicking a quokka.
Police also said authorities are still on the lookout for the poor quokka involved in the incident to make sure he is OK:
“The men were leaving the island today [Monday] when police located them. The quokka has not been located and it is unclear whether it was injured. Local authorities will look out for the animal.”
Throw away the bloody key, I reckon.
