Front Row At New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week has begun and has already lived up to its reputation as the world’s most celebrity-attended fashion week. The front row reads like an It girl convention: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld at Altuzarra, Rachel Bilson at Diane von Furstenberg, Jess Hart and Daisy Lowe at Lacoste, and the usual suspects at Alexander Wang: M.I.A., Erin Wasson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, as well as a star-studded runway: Lily Donaldson, Agyness Deyn, Iris Strubegger, Karolina Kurkova, Karen Elson and Aussie models Julia Nobis and Abbey Lee. Australian models were popping up in a number of shows – in particular at Altuzarra where Julia, Lauren Brown, Bambi and Annaleise were all on deck to parade the Spring/Summer 2011 collection of 27-year-old boy wonder Joseph Altuzarra.
TOM FORD’S CLOSED COLLECTION
Tom Ford invited a select few to see a sneak preview of his debut eponymous womenswear line. Terry Richardson was the only photographer allowed into the event to shoot the parade of models that included: Julianne Moore, Farida Khelfa, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Lou Doillon, gorgeous French actress Emmanuelle Seigner, the fabulous Rinko Kikuchi from Babel, Beyonce, Solange, and Daphne Guinness. Tom Ford curated the preview, which is alleged to have been fabulous. No word on when the photos will be revealed but New York Times fashion writer Cathy Horyn wrote: “They were the height of glamour – sharp pantsuits in black silk or a leopard pattern, gorgeous black evening clothes with sheer blouses, corsets and maybe a shrug in shredded tulle, impeccable details like hammered gold jewelry, stilettos with ankle ties and seamed black stockings. The style was recognizably Tom Ford, chic and womanly, and with that big-time sense of fashion that one sees less and less of today on the runways.”
