The storm cells are the result of a very nasty complex spring low pressure system currently going ballistic over the Great Australian Bight.

The blackout has also knocked out all the traffic lights across the city, turning the road and bus networks to utter chaos. Those trying to flee the city in an Uber, for example, are currently having to pay through the teeth for the privilege.
